While new years resolutions might not be for everyone, everyone can find something at CES (Consumer Electronics Trade Show) 2022 to look forward to. Even if the color changing BMW isn’t your speed, there are grimacing robots, custom clothing for your upcoming trip to the Metaverse, and an adorable finger-nibbling cat. Fur real, according to the Washington Post, the little critter uses a set of HAMgorithms to give you little reassuring nibbles. These HAMgorithms are designed so the nibbles do not get too repetitive, and it just might be one of the best impulse buys of your life!
CES aside, there is a lot going on in the technology universe, some of which may end impacting your business – hopefully for the better.
Journey to the Metaverse
Ernest Cline, author of Ready Player One, must be getting excited as we inch ever closer to the Metaverse. The Metaverse is ‘theoretical shared space’ that allows users to hang out in an unparalleled version of virtual reality.
Some sources predict that 2022 will become a ‘race to the Metaverse’ with Facebook’s parent company, Meta at the spearhead. The other big players like Google, Microsoft, and Apple are surely not far behind in developing their own versions and gear.
Several small start-ups have also emerged touting their own versions of VR and VR related gear. While they may not have as much capital or resources as the big guns, they may very well end up cracking the code to success.
The combustion bus line ends here.
We have been moving towards and environmentally friendly mentality for some time now. While electric vehicles may not have been the most popular mode of transportation in the past, they have now taken a giant step into the forefront.
Several automakers, including the industry leading Tesla, are seeing wild leaps of interest in procuring and driving electronic vehicles. Household names like Ford, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen have or are in development with their own versions of electronically powered vehicles.
Now with the charging infrastructure widely expanding, limits being introduced to the manufacturing of combustion vehicles, and just a general move towards eco-friendly transportation we can most definitely expect to see more of these vehicles zooming around.
Chip, Chip… oops sorry, no chips.
You have undoubtedly heard of the recent shortage in chips. Most notably, the auto and electronics industries are hurting in particular. Automakers are unable to meet the current demand for new vehicles due to this shortage. Also, electronics like the PlayStation 5 have become almost impossible to purchase due to the same chip shortage.
This is undoubtedly frustrating; however we do have something to look forward to. There are a few plans in the works to build chip manufacturing plants here in the US and some have already begun looking into alternative options. Afterall, desperation tends to breed innovation.

Cybersecurity has gotten immensely more complicated over the last decade. We have moved from being protected by simple passwords to having to create long monstrosities plus utilizing MFA (Multifactor Authentication) in order to protect the most basic information.
We are currently moving towards a time where passwords aren’t going to be something you will need to remember. Instead, protected accounts will be driven by AI, improved sensory technology, and biometric access methods to protect our sensitive information.
